Biography
Ethelinda Lashley-Johnstone is a highly experienced Dance Lecturer Professional who has been practicing Pilates since 1986. She started her Pilates and Dance training at The London School of Contemporary Dance. After many years training in Pilates under the guidance of Jane Paris, Chris Blagdon and Brigid McCarthy She became a fully qualified Pilates Instructor in 2001 and worked at the Brigid McCarthy Pilates Studio until 2004. Since then Ethelinda has been a freelance instructor working throughout Scotland and in 2005 opened the Pilates Room Edinburgh. The studio is now a popular venue for those wishing to practice Pilates for sport, fitness, posture and rehabilitation.
Ethelinda combines her experience as a professional dancer, lecture and choreographer to bring a new and dynamic approach to the Pilates exercise system. This level of movement experience is conducive to the Pilates theory of use of breath fluidity and mind and body connection which produces a more expressive and dynamic work out.
The practical approach to Pilates is suitable to all ages and abilities. Ethelinda also has a high level of experience working with Pre and Postnatal mums.
Certification
Ethelinda is a member of the PILATES FOUNDATION UK Ltd. which was founded in 1996 by a group of veteran Pilates teachers. Its aim is to create a governing body that would nurture and ensure the highest standards in the profession. All Pilates Foundation teachers have to go through an extensive training programme to gain their qualification as a Pilates instructor and also undertake CPD on a yearly basis in order to continue good practice. |
